How about a sneak peek at Where There's Smoke, my new Contemporary Romance out this Spring?!
"I'm not the same person I was back then. You made damn sure of that.” Her eyes fell from mine and I felt victorious. I'd won that round. Or so I thought. Then she looked up at me, her face softening and eyes full of something other then anger—regret maybe. Well, shit. “No, you're not the same,” she agreed, shaking her head. “The guy I remember would have never believed the things that you believe about me.” She stared up at the sky, but I knew what she was doing. I'd seen her fight tears back before. She took in a deep breath. “It doesn't matter,” she finally said. “You won't have to worry about me being around to ruin you life anymore. I just wanted to stop by and say thank you.” “For what?” I was stunned. She would have never back down from an argument. Maybe she had changed. Something deep inside of me ached for the old Piper. Hell, it ached for the old Ryland, too, but those people were long gone. “For looking after Hadley,” she revealed with a heavy sigh. “I really appreciate it.” “It's nothing,” I said, not wanting to feel the gratefulness in her voice. I didn't need her thanks and I sure as shit didn't need her staring at me with that look on her face that said she owed me one. I could think of more than a few ways I'd like to collect, starting with those pretty red lips on mine. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20931527-where-there-s-smoke |
