Dear Book World,
I've come to the conclusion that it's not you that's the problem, it's me. You see, for almost six years, I've tried like hell to fit into the little box that is the "indie romance writer". At least by today's standards. I've tried to be overly accessible to my readers, I've tried to master the art of marketing in this crazy, hectic ever changing market, and I've tried to write as fast as my fingers (and life) would allow. To the point of nearly driving myself crazy.
I've cried. I've screamed. I've taken breaks from social media and writing all together. The frustration of not being able to "keep up" almost beat me. Almost.
Then I remembered why I started writing and self-publishing in the first place. It wasn't to get an NYT title or rake in mounds of cash. It was never about hoards of fans or constant admiration from peers and readers. It was because I felt like I had a story to tell. A story that was unique to me and the people I was trying to attract as readers. I still do. Quite a few actually. I just have to do it in my own way. On my own terms. At my own pace. Which was the draw to self-publishing in the first place.
I can write a book in a few weeks, or glom onto what is trending and push out my rendition of the same old story, or... Hear me out... I can write he stories that I want to write and that, hopefully, you want to read. I can put exactly what I need to put into each and every book I write. Which means, you might have to wait a little while between releases, and I might not be online chatting books or keeping up with the latest drama on Facebook. I might be “offline” for a while because that's where I need to be to write. In a clear, undistracted head space. Which means I can assure that what I'm putting on paper is pure and authentically and completely me.
Don't get me wrong, I admire the writers that crank out those bestsellers month after month and find balance between real life and running a book empire. They are rock stars. But every writer has a process and mine is just different. With all of that being said, I hope that you'll be on the look out for my releases and give them an honest shot when you see them pop up on your screens... Even if it takes a little while for them to appear.
Now that I've got that off my chest... I'm really excited about my current project. A new series! The Letters is a three-book series of interconnected stand-alones that follows the lives of three women who are linked through the loss of their friend and a collection of letters she leaves behind for them.
Friendship, romance, and the learning to live without regret...
The first release, Dear Kate, is scheduled for June 2017.
Kate Beckett has always had a plan—get her professional life to the highest level, then focus on her personal life. She preferred things in a certain order and liked to check them off accordingly.
When her best friend loses her battle with cancer, Kate starts to wonder if maybe she's been living life all wrong. And, when letters from the dearly departed start to arrive, she is forced to take a look at her life and ask herself a very important question: “Are you happy?”
To honor her best friend's final wishes, Kate takes a chance in spontaneity that sends her straight into the arms of a man that was definitely not part of her plan. A man that is everything that makes her want to throw caution to the wind and live in the moment.
Now she must decide if living a life with regrets is something she can do or if she's willing to shake things up for a chance at true love.

The Water's Edge Series – Stacy Kestwick
Doughnuts were her weakness.
If Sadie Mullins hadn’t been running on the beach to burn off the calories from her doughnut addiction, she wouldn’t have noticed the man not moving out in the water.
Wouldn’t have dived in after him.
Wouldn’t have met West Montgomery.
The cocky bastard should have been thankful, grateful even.
Of course, he wasn’t.
That should have been the end of it.
Of course, it wasn’t.
Having hope was her weakness.
If Sadie Mullins hadn’t started to believe in love again, hadn’t let herself fall for him, she wouldn’t be feeling this way.
Wouldn’t have her heart breaking.
Wouldn’t regret meeting West Montgomery.
The cocky bastard should have left her alone, let her forget about him.
Let her move on with her life.
Of course, he didn’t.
That could have been the end of it.
Of course, it wasn’t.
I LOVE this series! It's sexy and funny and a whole lot of other things that will surely get you squirming on your beach towel.
On the Island – Tracey Garvis-Graves
Two people stranded on an island struggle to survive—and slowly fall in love—in the runawayNew York Times bestseller from the author of the forthcoming novel COVET.
Anna Emerson is a thirty-year-old English teacher desperately in need of adventure. Worn down by the cold Chicago winters and a relationship that’s going nowhere, she jumps at the chance to spend the summer on a tropical island tutoring sixteen-year-old T.J.
T.J. Callahan has no desire to go anywhere. His cancer is in remission and he wants to get back to his normal life. But his parents are insisting he spend the summer in the Maldives catching up on all the school he missed last year.
Anna and T.J. board a private plane headed to the Callahan’s summer home, and as they fly over the Maldives’ twelve hundred islands, the unthinkable happens. Their plane crashes in shark-infested waters. They make it to shore, but soon discover that they’re stranded on an uninhabited island.
At first, their only thought is survival. But as the days turn to weeks, and then months, the castaways encounter plenty of other obstacles, including violent tropical storms, the many dangers lurking in the sea, and the possibility that T.J.’s cancer could return. As T.J. celebrates yet another birthday on the island, Anna begins to wonder if the biggest challenge of all might be living with a boy who is gradually becoming a man.
I cannot say enough great things about this book! I loved every single thing about the adventure and the love. Watching the characters grow and evolve is fascinating. If you have this on your TBR it's a great time to pick it up. It's a great read for that summer porch swing!
The Scene Series – Roxy Sloane
**Warning: Xavier is a dirty-talking, panty-melting, and alpha as f**k. Can you handle the heat?**
How did I wind up getting f&*$ed hard against the wall of a luxury hotel suite? Oh yeah, I was just doing my job. My maid’s job, that is. But sexy guest Xavier has other plans – and he’s not a man who takes no for an answer.
I’m breaking all the rules, and rumor has it, Xavier’s hiding a dangerous secret. But I can’t help it – I want more.
All ten inches more.
Nothing says heat like a sexy guy and a luxurious Miami hotel! This series is super sexy. You won't be disappointed with Xavier.
The Summer Games – R.S. Grey
As an Olympic rookie, Andie Foster has spent far more time in her cleats than between the sheets. For 21 years, her Friday nights have consisted of blocking shots rather than taking them. But now that she's landed in Rio, she's ready to see for herself if the rumors about the Olympic Village are true:
As Andie walks the line between rumor and reality, she's forced into the path of Frederick Archibald, a decorated Olympic swimmer and owner of a sexy British accent—too bad he's unavailable in a way that "it's complicated" doesn't even begin to explain.
In other words: off limits.
It doesn't matter that he has abs that could bring peace to the Middle East and a smile that makes even the Queen blush; Andie fully intends on keeping her focus on the soccer field. But the Village is small. Suffocating. Everywhere Andie goes, Freddie happens to be there—shirtless, wet from the pool, and determined to show her a whole new meaning of the phrase "international affairs".
If this is what the Olympic Village is like I'm a pissed I didn't spend more time training! I love this fun and flirty read. Nothing like a man in a Speedo to get your heart racing!
Maverick – Anna Cruise
Kellen Handler is in deep.
Ever since he can remember, he’s wanted to be a professional surfer. And he made it, rising to the top of the ranks, traveling the world and riding every break he’s ever dreamed of. His good looks and reputation for living on the edge—both in and out of the water—have made him an international superstar. But when his best friend dies in a tragic accident, Kellen wipes out big time, spiraling so badly that everything he’s worked for starts to disintegrate.
Tour officials scramble to do damage control and demand he work with a public relations company to clean up his bad boy image. It doesn't help that the person assigned to him, Gina Bellori, has her own demons associated with the surfing world.
Against her better judgement Gina accepts the job and concentrates on repairing Kellen's tattered reputation, despite his protests and despite the pain it causes her. With her past colliding with her present—and Kellen in the thick of it—she begins to realize that some secrets can't stay hidden.
And suddenly, Kellen Handler is no longer worried about losing his career.
He's more worried about losing his heart.
Anna Cruise is one of my all-time favorite writers and this is one of my favorite beach reads! Kellen is sexy on and off his surfboard. Click it now and get ready for a wet and wild ride!
Bait – M. Mabie
He was trouble from the start, but I couldn't resist.
She was the best kind of trouble. The kind that was so wrong, it felt right.
I’ve tried and failed to stay away from him.
I’ve done everything in my power to make her mine and keep her.
He’s almost impossible to say no to.
She never tells me yes.
We’re always fighting.
When we’re not fighting, we’re… well… making up.
He makes me laugh so hard.
I miss her laugh the most.
I'm a liar.
She knows the truth, but won’t admit it.
Sometimes, I wish I'd never met him.
I wish we could meet all over again. I'd do better.
His girlfriend knows.
The guy she’s with is a fool.
I’ll never love anyone like I love him.
She doesn’t love me enough to choose us.
It was the wrong place.
It was the wrong time.
It should have been him.
It will always be her.
When I read this book, I immediately messaged M. Mabie and gushed about how much I loved it. It's a little taboo but in a great way! I loved Betty and Lou and rooted for them from the jump! Bait is the first in a series of three and I promise you won't be able to stop until all three are devoured.
Below the Surface – Elizabeth Lee
Daniella Alvarez and Dylan McKendrie used to be in love. They used to be a team. An inseparable force to be reckoned with. But, when tragedy struck, their relationship sank faster than the ships they used to scour the ocean floor for. Now all that's left are scattered remains of what used to be.
Dylan, no longer seeking the mysteries on the ocean floor, now goes for the sure things and the guaranteed paychecks. When a longtime friend suggests he has hard proof that one of those legends that used to keep Dylan up at night could be real, he's torn between going after the gold and maintaining the life he'd built since leaving The Florida Keys.
Daniella was always a dreamer. She's always been chasing what would most deem unattainable—professionally and personally. Everything she'd ever wanted seemed to slip through her fingers the day he left, which is exactly why his return has her seeing red.
Can the two of them put their past aside long enough to figure out a mystery that has plagued them both for years? Can they work together to see what lies below the surface?
I know, I know...I wrote it so I'm biased, but this one has everything that's perfect for summer! A sexy boat captain, a sassy diver and mysterious shipwreck! You'll want to see what happens when Dylan returns to the island he left behind and has to face the woman who broke his heart.
Just a little insight into what I'm thinking!
Enjoy! Feel free to comment!
